Fire insurance is part of property insurance and is often referred
to in the industry as a named peril. Because it is named specifically
in the policy, in the event of a fire, your loss will be covered
by the property insurance.
Fire insurance is important to have because if you own a home,
it is too risky to not have the home insured against loss caused
by fire. Your home might never catch fire, but in 2005, four out
of five U.S. fire deaths occurred in homes.
In 2006, fire departments responded to 412,500 home fires in
the United States, which claimed the lives of 2,580 people (not
including firefighters) and injured another 12,925, not including
firefighters. Those statistics are from the Center for Disease
Control and Prevention. Fire insurance is just too important to
gamble with your property.
